Water has carved some incredible parks in the southwest, and Zion and Bryce are exceptional testimonials to nature’s work. Zion’s steep red walls and rock formations give everything in the valley a crimson glow. Hike up rock pinnacles or through river filled slot canyons to experience the wonder of this park. Wander through Bryce Canyon’s hoodoos, a giant forest turned to stone pillars of impossible wonder. In the understatement of the centuries, pioneer Ebenezer Bryce described the canyon as a “helluva place to lose a cow.” It won’t be your first thought.
The nine-day Zion and Bryce Canyon itinerary begins at each park with warm-up hikes and scenic drives to the best viewpoints. Your trip includes the most memorable hikes in both parks, including a “wet hike” wading in a river up a spectacular slot canyon. The trip also includes time experiencing the wind-swept walls of Antelope Canyon and boating on Lake Powell.
Travel tips include airport, lodging and camping information, as well as links to current conditions and travel alerts. The “Short on Time? Don’t Miss” section identifies four days that are highlights. Trip extensions listed include additional hiking options in both parks. A detailed two-day extension to the Grand Canyon North Rim is also included.
Note that due to the parks' close proximities, if you purchase both the Zion/Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon Itineraries, you can get a free itinerary combining both parks into a two week trip.
New: Looking for a shorter introductory overview itinerary? A new 3 day in-park itinerary is now also included in this Guide.
